Compressed Wood
Description
The properties of this material have been improved by isostatic compression under very high pressure in an hydraulic Quintus press. The hardness has been nearly doubled and scratch-resistance improved by over 200%. Mechanical properties such as bending and tensile strength are improved by between 30-70%.
The procedure is applicable for most wood kinds provided the wood source is free of larger knots and has low heartwood content.
