Furfurylized wood

Description
In a process similar to conventional impregnation the wood is treated with an acetic acid compound together with heat and pressure. The properties of the wood are changed permanently resulting in increased durability in ground contact and long durability outdoors and in seawater.

The brown colour will become silver-gray over time. The wood can be further treated with stain, oil and paint, but is also durable without surface treatment or other forms of maintenance.
